Liberty and Freedom Totem Poles

Total Award: $10,000 over 1 year

To support the Liberty and Freedom Totem Poles installation at the Pentagon and a 4,700 mile, 19-day journey across America during which time the Totem Poles were blessed by Native American communities in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and North Carolina. The Totem Poles were created and gifted by the Lummi Tribe of Bellingham Washington and are dedicated to healing, honor and freedom in the aftermath of the events on September 11, 2001. The Poles will later be moved to the 9/11 Memorial Grove on Kingman Island. The Lummi Tribe gifted a Totem Pole to New York City in 2002, and another was brought to Shanksville Pennsylvania in 2004.
