The purpose of this report is to inform the reader about the Nathan Cummings Foundation's mission, programs, and unique world view as well as its 1995 grantmaking activities. Each of the Foundation's five grantmaking areas--the arts, environment, health, Jewish life, and Interprogram--has a separate section that includes an essay describing the program's main concerns and an accompanying list summarizing the program's 1995 grants. The program sections and the president's essay also contain a "wisdom" tale--a brief quote, story, or poem that expresses an apt insight or commentary on the issues that so closely involve the Foundation's trustees, staff, and grantees.
