January 1998 Center for Environmental Citizenship
New York, NY
General Support
Founded in 1992, the Center for Environmental Citizenship is dedicated to
training and organizing a diverse network of student leaders to protect the
environment. CEC's main program is Campus Green Vote, which focuses on teaching
young people political and organizing skills to protect the environment. In
addition to year-round organizing in Washington, Colorado and New York, Campus
Green Vote cosponsors a wee k-long Summer Training Academy each June in Washington,
DC (in partnership with the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund). CEC
is also teaming up with four other national student environmental organizations
in a multi-year collaborative effort to increase the size and effectiveness
of the student environmental movement and build for maximum youth participation
in the 2000 elections and Earth Day 2000.
