Nonprofit Sector Support
The nonprofit sector faces challenges to its autonomy in defining appropriate missions and programs, to its tax-advantages, to its advocacy rights, and to other aspects of its operation. The Union Institute will address these challenges through issue advocacy and alerts for/with the sector’s leadership, providing technical assistance on select issues through briefing and background memoranda, publishing papers, speaking at conferences an d meetings, and facilitating networking among leadership and frontline organizations. Through such activities, The Union Institute will help the sector to represent its interests by raising awareness, galvanizing concern, and facilitating action by and beyond the sector’s leadership. It will focus on potential harm from "below-the-radar" issues, such as the push to develop nonprofit business models, and the undoing of citizen safeguards.
