The Nathan Cummings Foundation joins as an associate member of the Chicago Climate Exchange.

Global climate change is one of the most pressing environmental issues facing our world and future generations. Climate change is associated with direct and indirect emission of greenhouse gases (GHG), primarily through combustion of carbon-based fossil fuels. To address this problem and achieve GHG reductions, The Nathan Cummings Foundation (NCF) has joined the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) as an associate member.

With this commitment, NCF will quantify and report its indirect GHG emissions for each calendar year while purchasing 100% carbon offsets. This ensures that the atmospheric burden of GHG's is not increased by indirect activities of the Foundation. Over the past three years, NCF has and will continue to purchase wind power that is placed back into New York's regional grid to 100% offset our electricity usage. Our new membership with CCX will further signal NCF's commitment to addressing change in climate issues while being held accountable for all of our indirect GHG emissions.

The Chicago Climate Exchange, launched in 2003, is the world's first and North America's only voluntary, legally binding integrated GHG reduction and trading system. To learn more about the CCX, visit www.chicagoclimateexchange.com.
